I walk because I know the struggle of infertility firsthand…

In my late 20s I was told that it was doubtful for me to support a pregnancy to full term. The culprit: Uterine Fibroids- noncancerous tumors. After receiving this diagnosis, I put the thought of getting pregnant in the back of my mind and focused my attention on building a successful career in finance.

At the advice of a new doctor I had a myomectomy to remove the fibroids while leaving my uterus intact. However, the thought of having children still felt out of reach for me and therefore remained far from top of mind… Until my biological clock started ticking, loudly! That’s when I decided to stop being a victim of my diagnosis and took control of my fertility! Another myomectomy, countless hours of research, and one round of IVF later I gave birth to my healthy, beautiful baby boy, which I never thought I would be so fortunate to have.

I’ve come full circle in my fertility journey. Today I consult individuals and couples experiencing problems with infertility to get pregnant both traditionally and non-traditionally with the help of Assisted Reproductive Technologies, such as IVF.

The entire time I struggled with infertility I struggled in silence; too prideful and ashamed to tell anyone other than those closest to me what I was going through. Back then I was not aware of RESOLVE. I did not know that there was an organization full of people supporting, advocating and providing resources to those struggling with infertility like me. I walk to spread the word about RESOLVE and what the organization does to prevent others from suffering in silence.
