Recently, a Google Alert drew our attention to an article that mentioned AllPaths Family Building and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) in a negative light.
We strongly disagree with the way our work, ASRM’s work, and LGBTQ+ family building were characterized in that piece. But we’re grateful for the opportunity to be crystal clear about what we stand for.
- We believe fertility care and family building options should be available to all people, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, relationship status, or how their family comes to be.
- We believe LGBTQ+ people deserve the same rights, dignity, access to care, and opportunities to build families as anyone else.
- We believe in science. We believe in ethical, evidence-based research that helps us better understand fertility, improve reproductive care, and give more people the chance to build the families they hope for.
And we’re proud to support the work that ASRM does to advance reproductive medicine, research, and access to care.
We’re also proud of the AllPaths Podcast, where we intentionally share a wide range of family-building experiences and voices, including stories from LGBTQ+ families.
Representation matters. Hearing someone say, “I’ve been there too,” can make an isolating experience feel a little less lonely.
There is no one “right” kind of family.
There is no one “right” way to build one.
And we will continue to stand for a family-building community where people are treated with compassion, respect, and dignity, and where everyone deserves the chance to feel seen, supported, and welcomed.
