I have loved lighthouses for as long as I can remember. I look for them when I visit new areas for the first time. Sometimes I even plan a whole day trip around visiting one. Lighthouses are indeed lovely, but I am not sure why I’ve had this particular affinity (though it’s not particularly rare or unusual). It is probably because they are near the ocean, and I am usually on vacation when I see them (beaches and vacation are also two of my favorite things). But lately, given my personal and professional dedication to family building struggles, I have been thinking that maybe it is more than this. A lighthouse is literally a beacon in the darkness, and don’t we all need this more than ever these days? Lighthouses also stand strong and gorgeous as they are battered by difficult circumstances. That sounds like a certain community that I know! Lately I have been feeling that advocacy also can serve as a sort of lighthouse – a beacon of hope for a brighter and better future.
This has been a very busy, rewarding time for the advocacy efforts of Resolve New England (RNE) and our many valued partners. I am pleased to share updates on a few of our legislative priorities.
